This evening's entertainment was hauling six teenagers to a local Japanese steak house for Daughter#1's birthday. Freshmen and sophomores gathered around this table and the conversation flew fast and free. No topic was off limits and I just sat and laughed. Covering the pool is the newest euphimism for having sex... at least in this circle.

Still, as your baby turns 15, as she readies herself to drive a car, find a job, launch herself into the real world, you just have to sit back and marvel. Remember that she was only six pounds when she was born, remember her pointing out the window at the cottage and looking at the lake and calling it 'milk', the only liquid she knew at that time! It goes fast, but i find that each age just keeps getting better and better. I wanted to freeze them at 8 and 5, but I'm glad I didn't. We're having too much fun now!

Last spring we went to Mexico. What a riot! We shopped - my kids can barter like nobody's business! I taught them to order (virgin) drinks from the bar (I know... what was I thinking, but it was fun!) My daughter who has been afraid to even put her face in the water for most of her life snorkled for a full day with me at Xel-ha! Next trip might very well be to Hawaii. I wonder if she's going to make me take her surfing?

I am SO glad to hear someone is enjoying their teens. I hear all the time how people would trad the "teribble teens for the terrible twos" any day. I have been enjoying every step of the first 7yrs of being a parent. I like to believe that I will continue to enjoy it.
